Spring fever

Since summer arrived early this year, I’ve been playing hooky. Well, just from the blog that is. Although writing this blog is one of my favorite things to do, the warm weather sort of trumps everything lately.

But, since the weather has been so beautiful lately, we’ve gotten a head start on some furniture painting and have started bringing in some freshly painted goods.

(In the Fun Lane)

The beautiful image above is from one of my favorite blogs, In The Fun Lane. Based in Canada, the author also paints/sells beautiful pieces of furniture, but she also blogs about happenings in her life in general. If you enjoy working with your hands creating stuff, you should read her blog.

Alright, you know when and where to find us this weekend. Come check out some of our new stuff.

Thursday-Saturday 10-5.

Vintage afghans

Although mother nature seems to have decided to skip winter altogether, you still can’t deny the comfort of a handmade afghan.

If you caught the article about us in Apartment Therapy a few weeks ago, then this photo of a bunch of afghans we have in the store will look familiar.

And below are some great uses for afghans around the home.

And if you’re feeling a little wacky, you could sew yourself up a pair of pants;)

(etsy)

Yes, those pants are real. I found them on etsy, but fortunately for you they’ve already been sold!

Me, I like to use afghans in a good old fashioned way, either draped over the end of a bed or snuggling under one while watching a movie. Either way, we have a boat load in the store still and we keep bringing them in by the truck load.

Vintage art around the house

Today I thought I would share some of the vintage artwork that I have hanging around the house. I pretty much just stuck to the living room this time. And I showed you a few pieces from my kitchen the other day. I’m not sure what it is that attracts me to a piece, but I think it’s usually the general feel, color, etc. Probably the same thing that attracts anyone else to a particular piece.

I have an ever growing collection of Paint by Numbers. I think I currently have 8 and counting.

If you’ve ever bought artwork from us send us a photo of how you’re using it. We’d love to begin a series of how our customers are using items they’ve bought from our store. Matter of fact, send us a picture of how you’re using any goodie you’ve found at Gather and Collect and we’ll start a series.

Cheers to a vintage life well lived.

Did you know?

I’m just so excited I could sing to the stars!

A few weeks ago it was announced that my FAVORITE design magazine of all time will be having a come-back of sorts sometime in April. You see, Domino Magazine was a rather short lived but fabulous design magazine that has been defunct for nearly 3 years now, and has been sorely missed every since.

(All images from the late Domino Magazine)

The editors of Domino had such a keen eye for spotting sophisticated yet lived-in, vintage yet modern, mellow yet vibrant interiors. It’s really hard to put into works, but it was just so fantastic. So, from what I hear on April 17 they will come out with a special one time issue called Quick Fixes which will feature home decorating stories and how quick fixes can make big changes to a space.

Anyhow, this is probably old news to y’all but I spent so much time last weekend digging around in old Domino archives, so I thought I’d share one of my favorite rooms with you. So, if you’re crazy like me be sure to mark your calendars for the big day!
